Chem 112-Today you will learn how to balance equations. Please attempt all questions from 1 to 6 and the bottom right corner of handout from last week(with mole picture on it). The answers for the mole worksheet will be also checked(only had enough time in period 5).

Chem 122-We will go over calcuations involving strong acids and bases.Please do #4, 10 and 15 from the long worksheet. Today we will review work with Arrehenius and his ideas on acids and bases as involving a reaction with water to produce conjugate acids and bases.. Please remember to bring a sample for testing pH.

Chem 112-Today you will learn about percent composition and go over Formation(combination)/Decompostion Reactions . Homework:p 306 #32,33, p 307 # 34,35 and p 331 #13,14 and p 332 #15,16

Chem 122-- I will also go over indicators today. You will do some practise questions from the board with the indicator table. I will give you more time to work with strong acids and bases from the long sheet. I assigned 6,8, 9, 11, 12, 13,14

Chem 121-Previous work before labs was.... Chem 121-I have an appointment that I must attend this afternoon so Miss Fawcett will be with you today. You will be doing an in class assignment to pass in that involves section 17.3 in your textbook. You will also do a detailed heating curve question to pass in. Since I will not be able to do a pre-lab with you, the labs will begin on thursday. Homework: Worksheet #2, #3 and using p 511 and 512 compare in a list the difference between a constant volume and constant pressure calorimeter. Friday Oct 28Chem 121-Labs will start tomorrow. We will do our prelab today.Reminder: No open toed shoes or contact lenses. New work for today will involve enthalpy of reactions. We will learn the difference between exo and endothermic reactions. Assigned questions from handout #6 and #7 and textbook p 516 14, 15 as well as p 517 18, 19
Today we will overview some of the topics we did before labs started. These topics include finding enthalpy from a reaction equation and exo and endo thermic reactions. We will do some work with calorimeter calculations today. You will get some notes on this. You will also do #4 and #5 from the handout. Please read over the small scale lab p 533 that you will do tomorrow. . In addition to what the lab outline asks, you will be required to find the number of molecules of candle wax burned in the given time. You will also be required to figure out how long you will have to burn the candle to use up a mole of wax
Friday Oct 29 - I will be sending out marks for Chem 112 and 122 today, however I cannot send the Chem 121 marks yet as the labs are not complete. I hope to do this on monday evening.

Chem 112. I will do two demos, one with a single replacement reaction and of a double replacement reaction. The following textbook questions are assigned for the weekend p 334 #17, p 335 # 18, p 339 #24b,d and #26 a,c You will complete your pair assignment today(you will get ten-15 minutes to complete this on monday).
Chem 122-You will do some practise questions from the board with the indicator table. You will do some practise questions with indicators #1,2,3 from the smart board . I will have you work with a partner on some practise questions with Bronsted Lowry and indicators. Be sure to complete the table from the top right side of the handout with practise sheets 1 to 4 on it. This means sheet 3 should be completed in your notebook for tomorrow. Be careful with bases that have more than one hydroxide.
Chem 121- We will go over the Bomb calorimeter and do #5 from the worksheet. I hope to have you do some pair work from the blue booklets....77 Partner 1--> 2a)3a)4a)6, 8 Partner2--> 1,2b,3b,4b, 7,8.
